I recently photographed a beautiful wedding at The West Mill Wedding Venue in Darley Abbey, Derbyshire. It was a stunning event ... a truly amazing day spent with a really lovely bunch of people. Sadly I can't share the photos from the wedding (gutted as I LOVE them), but I can share a few images of what is a really special wedding venue.
If you are planning a wedding in Derbyshire and are looking for an exclusive use venue, take a good look at The West Mill. Set over four floors, with spacious (and very impressive) grounds adjacent to the weir, everything is set out perfectly for you and your guests. The venue is very well run, the food is gorgeous and the decor... it is simply very very impressive.
And the light..... what can I say about the light! It is interesting, flattering and creatively challenging. I shoot in quite a 'low key' style.... I don't really go for the bright, light and airy look in my imagery... I much prefer a darker, more 'cinematic' look to my work and this venue really works well for that. However, if you do prefer the light airy look it would work so well for that as well... this really is a photographers dream venue.
I must say a big thank you to Karen at The West Mill for looking after me so well on the day of the wedding. It was a real pleasure working there and I really hope to do so again some time soon!
And finally... thank you so much to Hannah and Oliver for asking me to be a part of their day and for making me so welcome. It was a real pleasure working for you both.
The ground floor is used for welcome and reception drinks and has perfect access to the grounds should you wish to get outside at any time (we didn't... it was February = very cold!).

The third floor at the West Mill is set up for the wedding breakfast. Whilst there is a lot of moving from floor to floor during the day, it is fairly easy to do so thanks to a lift in the building (which was a godsend for me!)
