Ironbridge Gorge Museums Wedding. Naomi and Toms STUNNING day.
I have been looking forward to sharing these images from the very minute I left Naomi and Toms wedding at the Ironbridge Gorge Museums in Shropshire last month. This wedding will go down as a huge highlight not only of this year, but of my photography career in general.
Naomi and Tom asked me to photograph their wedding about a year before their big day but we didn’t meet in person until a couple of weeks ahead of the wedding. This happens pretty regularly for me now and I suppose is a bit of a risk… but I needn’t of worried… I left our meeting in great spirits… really excited about working for them both…..
The wedding day itself took place in 3 different locations. A hotel near Ironbridge was the setting for the preparations for the day, before we all moved over to the Ironbridge Gorge Museum sites for the rest of the day. Specifically ‘Enginuity’ in Coalbrookdale for the wedding ceremony and the stunning Blists Hill Victorian town for the reception.
Naomi and Tom are both keen cyclists so this was a big theme of their wedding day, starting with Tom and his Groomsmen cycling from the hotel to Coalbrookdale on vintage bicycles. Rather them than me!
The room at Enginuity is a really lovely space. Challenging from the point of view of photography, (shooting in artificial light is tricky in terms of consistency thanks to the frequency of electrical current (I think)) but it is a wonderfully interesting room.
And this I think is the right time to talk a little about Naomi’s wedding dress. It was nothing short of stunning (as you can see here). Designed with and made by Naomi’s sister Hannah it was probably the most unique wedding dress I have seen. Wonderfully elegant and remarkably detailed, Hannah’s work was just sensational. She has a very bright future in front of her that is for sure!
And finally we made our way over to Blists Hill for the wedding reception. What a place this is! Not quite as big as the Black Country Museum but easily as good… I loved working here. With loads of things for guests to do and wonderful decor in the inside spaces it was perfect.
Thank you so much Naomi and Tom for asking me to photograph your wonderful day. I LOVED working for you both and I hope these images help to bring back memories of a stunning day for many years to come.
